The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has directed all public universities in Nigeria to conclude their 2025 admission processes by October 31, 2025, according to the board’s weekly bulletin released on Monday, August 18.
Private universities have been instructed to complete their admissions by November 30, 2025, while all tertiary institutions—public and private—must conclude the process by December 31, 2025.
JAMB emphasised that institutions not ready to begin a new academic session must still process and archive their admissions, ensuring compliance with the national schedule. Post-UTME screenings are expected to finish in good time to align with these deadlines.
The board had previously set 150 as the minimum cut-off mark for university admissions in the 2024/2025 session, 100 for polytechnics and colleges of education, and 140 for colleges of nursing sciences.
Following the release of resit UTME results on May 25, JAMB noted that 1,365,479 candidates scored below 200 out of 1.9 million, prompting calls for an investigation into the mass underperformance. Board registrar Ishaq Oloyede admitted errors in examination handling and apologised for the resulting distress.
