Please, share this story:
The Wole Oluyede Campaign Organisation has described the court affirmation of Governor Biodun Oyebanji as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a welcome development, as it now places him in the proper frame of mind to explain to Ekiti people how his administration expended over ₦300 billion received from the Federal Account and why it accumulated a staggering ₦80 billion debt.
As a matter of fact, the APC had no valid governorship candidate for the June 20, 2026 election until Wednesday, April 15. This created an unusual situation in which the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Wole Oluyede, was left wondering who exactly to confront at the polls.
According to a statement issued by the Campaign Organisation’s Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, and made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti, the court’s decision does not in any way rescue the APC from imminent electoral humiliation that awaits Oyebanji and APC in Ekiti.
“It is not yet uhuru,” the statement declared. “Governor Oyebanji and the APC are heading for a humiliating defeat at the hands of Oluyede and the PDP on June 20.”
₦300BN RECEIVED, ₦80BN DEBT — WHAT DID EKITI GAIN?
The Campaign Organisation condemned what it described as the governor’s glaring failure to justify the massive resources accrued under his administration.
Between October 2022 and March 2026, Ekiti State reportedly received over ₦300 billion from FAAC, yet the same government has accumulated more than ₦80 billion in debt.
This raises unavoidable questions:
Where is the money?
What has it been used for?
Ekiti people, according to the Organisation, see no commensurate development—no meaningful infrastructure, no real job creation, and no improved security.
“What they see instead is a government built on propaganda—hiring actors and influencers who neither live nor vote in Ekiti to sell a false narrative,” the statement added.
“This is deception. It is an insult to the intelligence of Ekiti people.”
PUBLIC DEBATE CHALLENGE
Dr. Oluyede has therefore challenged Governor Oyebanji to a public debate—a direct and transparent engagement where facts, not propaganda, will speak.
The governor is expected to explain:
How ₦300 billion in FAAC allocations was spent
Why ₦80 billion debt was incurred with little to show?
Why insecurity persists despite huge spending?
Where the promised development and jobs are?
“Ekiti people deserve answers—not silence, not excuses, and certainly not staged performances.”
“A government with nothing to hide will not run from scrutiny. Refusal to accept this challenge will only confirm what many already suspect—that there is no credible account for the billions received and borrowed.”
UNCOMPLETED PROJECTS, FAILED PROMISES
The Campaign Organisation listed several projects it described as either abandoned or failed:
Uncompleted Projects:
Fajuyi Park
Indoor Sports Hall
Cultural Centre Theatre
800-bed complex at EKSUTH
State flyover project
Failed Initiatives:
Tractorisation programme
YSJ Farm scheme
Dairy farm revamp
Ekiti water project
Ekiti electricity project
Outstanding Obligations:
12 years of unpaid gratuities
Six years of unpaid leave grants
Abandoned Christmas bonuses
FINAL WORD TO EKITI PEOPLE
The Organisation posed a direct challenge to the electorate:
“Ekitikete, what exactly will Governor Oyebanji point to as an achievement to justify another four years?”
“Perhaps, the only achievement is the endorsement politics and internal consensus that have polarized the APC.”
The statement concluded:
“The time for accountability is now. Ekiti people must choose between propaganda and performance, between failure and a new direction.”
