Judgment in the suit challenging the validity of the emergence of Biodun Oyebanji as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been adjourned to Wednesday, April 15, 2026.
The ruling, which was initially scheduled for delivery on Tuesday at the Federal High Court in Abuja, was postponed after the court clerk informed parties that the presiding judge would not be sitting.
All parties in the case were subsequently directed to return on the new date for judgment.
The suit was instituted by an APC governorship aspirant, Abimbola Olajumoke Olawumi, who is challenging the consensus process that produced Oyebanji as the party’s candidate.
Recall that Olawumi and another aspirant, Kayode Ojo, were disqualified by the APC from participating in the governorship primary election.
Dissatisfied with her disqualification and the outcome of the primary, Olawumi approached the court to seek redress.
It was also alleged that the delegate lists used for the primary election were manipulated.
The outcome of the judgment is expected to have significant implications for the candidacy of Governor Oyebanji, whose political future in the race may be determined by the court’s decision.
