Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Saturday that there are “growing signs” that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, is no longer alive following a massive joint military offensive by the United States and Israel.

The operation, dubbed “Epic Fury” or “Roaring Lion,” targeted dozens of strategic sites across Iran, including the Supreme Leader’s high-security compound in downtown Tehran.

The coordinated strikes, described by Israel as “pre-emptive” and intended to “remove existential threats,” reportedly leveled several government buildings and intelligence centers.

While the Iranian Foreign Ministry initially insisted that both Khamenei and President Masoud Pezeshkian were “safe and sound,” Netanyahu countered in a televised address that “all indications show this tyrant is no longer with us.”

This sentiment was bolstered by reports in Israeli media suggesting that the 86-year-old leader’s body had been recovered from the ruins of his compound, which satellite imagery showed was heavily damaged.

In a swift retaliatory wave, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard launched hundreds of drones and missiles targeting Israeli territory and U.S. military assets across the Middle East.

Impact reports surfaced from the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar, with Bahrain confirming a direct missile strike on the headquarters of the U.S. Navy’s 5th Fleet.

While U.S. Central Command reported “minimal damage” and no American casualties, the strikes caused widespread disruption, forcing the indefinite closure of major transit hubs like Dubai International Airport.

President Donald Trump, speaking from Florida, confirmed the start of “major combat operations” and appealed directly to the Iranian people to “take over your government,” framing the strikes as an opportunity for the public to end the decades-long theocracy.

As the region teeters on the edge of a broader war, the status of Iran’s top leadership remains the subject of intense global speculation, with the United Nations Security Council scheduled to hold an emergency meeting on the crisis.
