The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced that Governors Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Agbu Kefas (Taraba), and Diri Douye (Bayelsa) are potential candidates for the 2027 presidential election.

Debo Ologunagba, PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, told reporters in Abuja that the party has a roster of “capable and performing governors” ready to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He emphasised that the PDP is positioning itself as the “next natural alternative to the APC,” stressing the need for internal discipline and adherence to the party constitution.

The announcement follows the PDP National Executive Council’s 100th meeting, which confirmed the dates for the national elective convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, from November 15 to 16, 2025.

Reports indicate that the party has agreed to zone the 2027 presidential ticket to the south, a move widely seen as favouring Governor Makinde.

Ologunagba warned that “anti-party activities will no longer be condoned” and urged members to follow the constitution strictly, as the PDP seeks to emerge stronger and more united ahead of the general elections.
