President Bola Tinubu has assured that his administration will end insecurity and incapacitate all the agents responsible for insecurity in the country, adding that he would not rest until all vestiges of darkness such as Boko Haram terrorists, bandits, kidnapping gangs, and all other terrorist groups were stamped out.
The President also said that his administration would embark on proper education of the youths to shun criminality, agreeing that education was the antidote to the troubles agitating the nation. “There is no weapon against poverty that is as potent as learning.”
Tinubu stated this in Abuja on Tuesday against the backdrop of the renewed upsurge of terrorist attacks, banditry, and kidnapping in different parts of the country, and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, and when he received a delegation of Jam’iyyatu Ansarudden, a highly respected Islamic movement, at the State House in Abuja.
The President said that he was disturbed by the spate of kidnapping and bandit attacks, describing the development as ungodly, wicked, and unwelcome to his government.
He however said that the security agencies have been acting with dispatch to address the current challenge, promising that all required resources, policies, and plans would be rolled out for the massive education of Nigerian youths to shun criminality and plan good for their country.
The President said that he sought to be President of this great nation purposely to make life and living in the country very conducive and “I can assure you that we are here to achieve that and we will uproot every impediment to peace, stability, and economic prosperity.”
“We are dedicated to building lasting peace with a focus on the comprehensive education of our children. We will get our teachers and their owners involved in an education process that will be relevant to the future of this country.
“It is important. Knowledge brought me here with your prayers and your support. Without knowledge, there is nothing to generate hope for mankind,” Tinubu said.
The president also emphasized the need to promote updated knowledge through existing Islamic learning institutions for youths in Northern Nigeria to speed up development in the region, Nigeria, and Africa.
“Please embark on special prayers. Embark on proper education for our youth. Kidnapping and banditry are not the way of God. Shedding each other’s blood is bad. And there can be no development without peace.
“It is only in the area of peace that we can eliminate poverty. We must work for peace for our economy to grow better,” the president said.
President Tinubu also had a meeting with service chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Those in the meeting included the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogala, Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, and Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
Heads of other security agencies were also at the meeting.
