The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Ladoja, has firmly denied allegations linking him to an alleged plot to remove Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, describing the claims as false and misleading.
In a statement issued in Ibadan through his media aide, Chief Adeola Oloko, the monarch cautioned against dragging the traditional institution into political controversies, stressing that the Olubadan stool remains non-partisan.
Oba Ladoja dismissed the allegations as baseless, emphasizing that traditional rulers have no constitutional authority to influence the removal or impeachment of elected officials.
He noted that it is legally impossible for any monarch to play a role in such processes, adding that even at the local government level, traditional institutions lack the power to remove elected office holders.
The royal father urged political actors in Oyo State to refrain from involving the throne in what he described as unnecessary political disputes capable of heating up the polity.
Reaffirming his commitment to neutrality, Oba Ladoja said the dignity of the traditional institution must be preserved at all times, warning against the spread of misinformation that could create tension.
The clarification comes amid rising political speculation surrounding developments within the state’s leadership.
