Please, share this story:

“Whenever we harvested our farm products and plowed our farmlands in readiness for the planting of new crops, these armed hoodlums, along with Sunday Abegunde and another Sunday, a brother to the Alaawe of Awe, would appear on our farmlands and started planting their crops.

“When we asked them the rationale behind this illegal trespassing, Sunday Abegunde would tell us to come and meet the Alaawe of Awe, sign a compulsory undertaking to cede our inherited landed property to the Awe community. We vehemently opposed this and refused to appear before the Alaawe of Awe.

“We are fed up and are ready to damn the consequences. Our means of inherited livelihood are being taken away from us.
Alaawe of Awe and his henchmen can’t chase us away from our inheritance. NEVER. Where do they want us to go to?

“This is why we are calling on our remarkable Governor Oluwaseyi Makinde to, as a matter of utmost concern, take the bull by the horns and deal decisively with perpetrators of lawlessness and let them face the full rigors of the law. We must also be adequately compensated for the damages done to our property. Enough is enough” ………
Prince Dauda Fatosa, Akoda Village.

Dialogue and engagement must be encouraged, as they provide fertile ground for accommodating divergent perspectives and finding common ground even in times of crisis.

What is happening at Oyo homesteads in the Afijio local government areas is barbaric, inhuman, unlawful, and capable of snowballing into a full-blown war, if handled with kid gloving by the concerned authorities.

The rate of terror acts being unleashed on villagers at Onidese, Akoda, and Kiyeseni villages by the Alaawe of Awe, Oba Cornelius Abiola Taiwo, his council and hatchet men, despite the Oyo State Government warning, left much to be desired as lives are gradually being snuffed out of the desperate and dejected villagers, who may take revenge against unlawful and despotic acts and damn the consequences .

In an exclusive interview, a member of one of the royal ruling houses to the throne of the late Akoda of Akoda village , Prince Dauda Fatosa, disclosed that “armed hoodlums led by one Sunday Abegunde who claimed to be the purported new Baale of Kiyeseni village installed by the Alaawe of Awe, storm the village on daily basis to unleash their terror on us”.

Fatosa stated that ” whenever we harvested our farm products and ploughed our farmlands in readiness for planting of new crops, these armed hoodlums along with Sunday Abegunde and another Sunday , a brother to the Alaawe of Awe will appear on our farmlands and started planting their crops .

” When we asked them the rational behind these illegal trespassing , Sunday Abegunde would tell us to come and meet the Alaawe of Awe , sign a compulsory undertaking , in order to cede our inherited Lande property to the Awe community . We vehemently opposed to this and refused to appear before the Alaawe of Awe “.

Prince Fatosa further disclosed that the recent criminal onslaught unleashed on the three villages was the unjust arrest and detention of one Mr. Seye by policemen from Awe Divisional Police Command headquarter located at Awe town.

According to him, ” Seye, an idigene of Oyo town and a farmer has several hectares of farmland at Kiyeseni villages where he planted variety of both food and cash crops.

“After harvesting his farm products, Seye preparing to plough the farmland in readiness for another planting season. But on getting to his farmland , he saw armed hoodlums led by one Sunday Abegunde and another Sunday who was a brother to the Alaawe of Awe ploughing his farmland. He went back home and returned back the next day and started planting his variety of crops on it.

” When Sunday Abegunde with his hoodlums came back to the farmland the next day, they found crops already planted on it . They asked for the person that planted the crops and Seye said he was the one because the farmland belongs to him .

” Sunday Abegunde and his hoodlums left without saying a word, only to return some minutes later with some policemen and ordered the arrest of Seye who was whisked away and locked up without listening to his side of the story “.

Prince Fatosa explained that the matter got to the hearing of the Oyo Area Police Commander who called for peaceful resolution.

“We were forced to pay a sum of N50,000 before Seye was released from Police cell after days of incarceration”, Fatosa disclosed.

“We are fed up and are ready to damn the consequences. Our means of inherited livelihood are being taken away from us and the Alaawe of Awe continues to snuff lives out of us, despite the Oyo State Government warning. For how long shall we continue to fold our hands with these terror acts being unleashed on us? Enough must be enough.

“Alaawe of Awe and his henchmen can’t chase us away from our inheritance. NEVER. Where do they want us to go? This is why we are calling on our remarkable Governor Oluwaseyi Makinde, to, as a matter of utmost concern, take the bull by the horns and deal decisively with perpetrators of lawlessness and violent crises in Afijio Local Government areas”, Prince Fatosa said.
