Please, share this story:

As the global Muslim community welcomes the Islamic New Year, Hijrah 1447 AH, Otunba Olugbenga Obafemi extends his heartfelt congratulations to all Muslims in Nigeria and across the world on this auspicious occasion.

The Islamic New Year, marking the historic migration of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) from Mecca to Medina, reflects virtues of resilience, faith, and the transformative power of hope in the face of adversity.

This sacred migration not only established the foundation of the Islamic calendar but also demonstrated that with unyielding faith and determination, seemingly insurmountable challenges can become stepping stones to greater victories.

“As we commemorate this blessed beginning of Hijrah 1447 AH, I call upon our Muslim brothers and sisters to remain steadfast in hope and faith,” said Otunba Obafemi. “The challenges we face as individuals and as a nation are temporary, and I am confident that with collective prayers, unity, and perseverance, the fortunes of our beloved Nigeria and the lives of our people will change for the better.”

Drawing inspiration from the Holy Quran, Otunba Obafemi emphasized the divine promise of relief after hardship, citing the powerful verse: “Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease” (Surah Ash-Sharh 94:5-6). This verse serves as a note of hope, reminding the faithful that no matter how daunting the circumstances may appear, Allah’s mercy and relief are assured for those who maintain their faith and trust in the Almighty.

The message resonates particularly strongly during these times when many Nigerians face economic hardships and social challenges. Otunba Obafemi encourages the Muslim community to use this New Year as an opportunity for spiritual renewal, increased devotion, and collective prayers for the nation’s prosperity and peace.

“Let us approach this new Islamic year with renewed optimism, knowing that our sincere prayers and righteous deeds will not go unnoticed by the Almighty,” he continued. “May this Hijrah bring about positive transformations in our personal lives, our communities, and our nation as a whole.”

As the Islamic community begins this new year, Otunba Obafemi calls for increased charity, compassion for the less privileged, and unity among all people of Ekiti and Nigerians regardless of religious or ethnic differences.

May the blessings of Hijrah 1447 AH bring peace, prosperity, and divine favor to all Muslim faithful and Nigeria as a nation.
