The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Elijah Ayodele, has cautioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu against intensifying political battles with opposition figures, warning that such actions could deepen public resentment.
In a statement issued through his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, the cleric described the current approach to opposition politics as “risky,” noting that it could trigger wider political instability and erode public support for the administration.
“I must also caution the ruling party; fighting the opposition is a risky game because of their support. The more the fight continues, the more Nigerians will grow to dislike the government,” Ayodele stated.
He further warned that individuals within the President’s inner circle may not remain loyal in moments of political crisis, alleging that some are driven by personal interests rather than genuine commitment.
According to him, escalating confrontations with opposition figures could lead to prolonged political tensions and governance challenges.
Ayodele also advised opposition leaders to brace for intensified political pressure, including legal battles that could distract them ahead of future elections.
He specifically mentioned figures such as Abubakar Malami and Nasir El-Rufai, warning that political hostilities were far from over.
“Opposition should get prepared for more challenges. There will be strategies deployed to engage them, including litigation, which may affect their focus,” he said.
The cleric urged President Tinubu to tread carefully and weigh the broader implications of continued political confrontations, stressing that such moves could spark “scenes and dramas” in the political space in the coming months.
His remarks come amid heightened political tensions and ongoing disputes involving major opposition parties across the country, as stakeholders position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
