Please, share this story:

In what appears like a u-turn, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has taken steps to pacify the labor as he agreed to pay a minimum wage that is more than N60,000.

However, the government has yet to disclose what it plans to add.

These are reportedly part of the agreement signed after an eight-hour meeting between the Federal Government officials and Organised Labour leaders on Monday night in Abuja, aimed at resolving the dispute over the national minimum wage and ending the nationwide strike.

The meeting resulted in the following resolutions:

– President Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government has committed to a national minimum wage higher than N60,000.
– The Tripartite Committee will meet daily for the next week to negotiate an agreeable national minimum wage.
– Labour leaders have agreed to convene an urgent meeting to consider the President’s commitment.
– No worker will be victimized for participating in the industrial action.

Organized labor has not yet responded to the development at the time of filing this report.

Recall that the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, NSIWC, summoned a meeting of the tripartite committee on the new national minimum wage for today.
