Barely after two hours the gunmen struck at Oke Ako Area of Ikole Local Government of Ekiti State killing two traditional rulers and the third monarch escaped death by whiskers, the gunmen again ambushed a school bus returning home pupils of a private nursery school in Eporo Ekiti at about 5 pm on Monday.
The Pathfindernews gathered authoritatively that no fewer than six school pupils, three teachers, and a driver were taken to the bush by their abductors.
Investigations revealed that the gunmen suspected to be kidnappers attacked the bus at a place in Eporo-Ekiti, close to the Ondo state border, and whisked it to the forest.
Earlier in the day two traditional rulers; Elesun of Esun -Ekiti and the Onimojo-Ekiti were murdered by suspected kidnappers in the Oke Ako area of Ikole LGA.
Meanwhile, the State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has urged the citizens of the state not to despair over Monday’s kidnapping of some school pupils and their teachers in Emure-Ekiti, assuring that efforts are on to get the children and their teachers rescued.
The Governor, who described the kidnapping of the school pupils, as callous and unacceptable, said nothing would be spared in the efforts to rescue them.
According to a statement by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, security agencies in the state are already on the trail of the abductors with a mandate to bring the pupils and their teachers back safely.
Governor Oyebanji said security is being stepped up across the state to flush out criminal elements from their hideouts.
While calling on the citizens to remain calm and vigilant, he urged them to cooperate with security agencies, by making available relevant information to the authorities.
