EKSU emerges 4th at NAPE/ NMGS energy conference

The Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti has clinched the 4th position at the just-concluded 12th conference organised by the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE) and the Nigerian Mining and Geoscienses Society (NMGS).

With this feat, EKSU defeated big universities like the University of Ibadan, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, among others.

According to a statement by the Deputy Registrar and Head, Directorate of Information and Corporate Affairs of EKSU, Bode Olofinmuagun, on Tuesday, the “mini conference was held at the Kwara State University, Malete.

“Ten 300 level students from the Department of Geology represented the university at the conference. The Tunji Olowolafe Foundation (TOF) sponsored the delegates which included two academic staff to the conference.

“The theme of the conference which was held between 28th and 30th August, 2025 was “BRIDGING THE KNOWLEDGE GAP: ENHANCING GEOSCIENCE EDUCATION FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT.”
He said participants were drawn from 22 universities in Nigeria.

“The conference featured oral and poster presentations which were highly competitive.
“At the end of the day, Ekiti State University emerged on the 4th position, trailing behind University of Ilorin, Federal University of Technology, Minna and Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye.

“The Head, Department of Geology, Professor Adeyinka Aturamu, who led EKSU delegate to the conference, described the event as an eye – opening opportunity for both staff and students to learn, network and interact with peers and industry delegates.

“He expressed his appreciation to the EKSU Management and the Tunji Olowolafe Foundation (TOF) for sponsoring the delegates to the conference,’ Olofinmuagun said
