Ahead of the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Ekiti State, a formidable group from Ekiti South Senatorial District has thrown its weight behind one of their own, Dr Wole Oluyede who is from Ikere Ekiti.

The Collision For Ekiti South Agenda COESA, a group championing the course of Ekiti South for Governor declared their support towards Dr Wole Oluyede to be the next Governor of Ekiti State.

Charles Sola Daramola from Emure Local Government leading Omotoso Oluropo from Gbonyin Local Government, Hon Okimi Ayobola from Ekiti South West, Kolawole Femi from Ekiti East Local Government, Ajayi Babatunde from Ise Orun Local Government and Hon Gbenga Ijasan from Ikere Local Government while addressing press conference in Ikere Ekiti.

Daramola traced the former Governors in Ekiti State since the creation of the state since 1996 to include the first elected Governor, Otunba Niyi Adebayo from the central Senatorial District.

The COESA leader stressed further that Ayo Fayose from the Central Senatorial District took over Adebayo and Chief Segun Oni from Ekiti North succeeded Fayose. Kayode Fayemi from Ekiti North took over from Oni while Ayo Fayose from the Central Senatorial District took over for the second term in office. Kayode Fayemi again from the North Senatorial District took over from Ayo Fayose to complete his second term while the present Governor, Biodun Oyebanji is from Ekiti Central Senatorial District.

Daramola frowned at the situation urging the people of Ekiti State to show love and understanding this time around and support Dr Wole Oluyede from the Southern Senatorial District to be the next Governor of the state.

“In 27 years of our democracy, Ekiti South has never produced a Governor. The North and the Central Senatorial Districts has had its turns several times but the South is still waiting. The time is now”.

Daramola asked: Is Ekiti South lacking in competent sons and daughters? No. Are we lacking in vision, in resources, in loyalty to our state? No, what are we asking for is not charity. We are asking for equity from the electorate as we always say power can’t be giving but to be taken, this is the time for us to take it” he asserted.

Daramola stressed further, “So, today, I appeal to our leaders in Ekiti, our electorate, our traditional rulers let this 2026 be the year we correct the unbalance, support competence from the south ( Dr Wole Oluyede) and when the time comes, vote for equity, vote for unity, vote for one Ekiti because when we give every district a sense of belonging we kill the seed of marginalization and water the tree of peace”.

He extolled the qualities of Dr Wole Oluyede having gotten enough experience with his political exposure, the COESA promised to support him and urged Ekiti electorate to vote for Oluyede.

“Ekiti South Senatorial District is the largest district amongst the districts with six Local Governments out of the Sixteen Local Governments and yet, we have not produced the Governor since the creation of this state in 1996, the time for us is now and Dr Wole Oluyede is our choice from the Southern Senatorial District “.
