Please, share this story:
A special delegation representing the residents of the Federal Housing Estate, Phase 2, Afao Road, Ado-Ekiti, where the former Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the Ekiti State University, Professor ‘Femi Olaofe, resided before his untimely death has paid a condolence visit to the palace of the Alare of Are-Ekiti, Oba Boluwade Adebiyi.
Rising from an emergency meeting of the Estate where the decision of the visit was taken, the delegation, under the Estate Chairman, Mr Olusola Obatikun, who condoled with the town’s Royal Highness and other sons and daughters of the ancient town, said the essence of the visit was to officially report the ugly incidence to the generality of the sons and daughters of Are Ekiti and the world at large, and equally explain the efforts of the residents of the Estate before, during and after the kidnap.
Describing the gruesome killing of the late Professor as calamitous and deeply painful, especially around the time that he was whisked away, practically took all the residents by a great surprise.
Obatikun, who appreciated the sincere and genuine roles played by the security agents, DSS and RRS, and the Ekiti State Environmental Services that were involved in the search and finding and exhumed of the body of our elder, further urged that they get to the root of the matter and bring the culprits to book to forestall a re-occurrence of the incidence.
Advising parents to be genuinely concerned about the proper development of their wards by discouraging them from the get-rich-quick syndrome that is currently the order of the day in Nigeria, Obatikun especially appealed to the youths across Ekiti to imbibe the ethics of “Omoluabi” which our forefathers are known for.
In response, the Kabiyesi, Alare of Are-Ekiti, Oba Boluwade Adebiyi, while welcoming the delegation, urged that every Nigerian be more security conscious as the security situation of the country has become too worrisome for anyone to take with levity.
The Alare, who warned those engaging the assistance of strangers as home helpers to be weary of the hands they are engaging, called on such individuals to always endeavor to make all necessary investigations about those helpers for them not to hire and harbor criminals.
He called on the Executives of the Estate to do the profiling of all residents of the Estate and do all things necessary to protect their dear lives.
Members of the delegation included the Chairman, Mr. Olusola Obatikun; the Vice-Chairman, Pastor Adeola Babalola; the Secretary, Mr. Dele Makanjuola; and the Women Leader, Mrs. Akinsuru, Foluke.
The Elders in the entourage include the former Registrar of the Ekiti State University (EKSU), Dr. Omojola Awosusi, Dr. Ayodele Seluwa, the Director of Ekiti State Primary Healthcare, and Barr.Tope Adesuyi.
