Prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Duro Faseyi, has been celebrated by political associates and supporters as he marks his 70th birthday.
The former member of the House of Representatives and ex-senator representing Ekiti North Senatorial District was described as a loyal party man and consistent democrat whose contributions have shaped Ekiti’s political landscape over the years.
Born in Iludun Ekiti, Ilejemeje Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Faseyi’s political journey has spanned decades, during which he built a reputation for calm leadership, loyalty, and strategic influence.
Between 2003 and 2011, he served in the Green Chamber of the National Assembly, where he was credited with making notable contributions to legislative activities and constituency development.
Recounting his political relationship with former Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose, associates recalled his role in the build-up to the 2014 PDP governorship primary election.
According to them, Faseyi was among key figures who worked behind the scenes to consolidate support that eventually led to Fayose’s victory.
Following the 2014 success, Faseyi secured the PDP senatorial ticket and went on to represent Ekiti North in the Senate from 2015 to 2019.
During his tenure, he was noted for facilitating opportunities for Ekiti indigenes in security agencies and contributing to grassroots empowerment.
As Ekiti prepares for the 2026 governorship election, Faseyi is again being positioned by party stakeholders as a central figure in efforts to return the PDP to power, particularly in support of the party’s candidate, Wole Oluyede.
In a congratulatory message, Oluyede praised the septuagenarian’s steadfast commitment to the party and his enduring leadership qualities, wishing him good health and continued relevance in national and state affairs.
The celebration, which drew political allies and well-wishers, underscored Faseyi’s enduring influence as an elder statesman and key player in Ekiti politics.
