The 42 Engineer Brigade, Letmuck Barracks of the Nigerian Army, Ibadan, has solicited the support of Oyo State Water Corporation on the provision of potable water to the barracks community.
The Commander, 42 Engineer Brigade, Brigadier-General S. O. J. Aremu, appealed on Friday during a courtesy visit to the corporation.
Brigadier-General Aremu said the efforts of the state government in reactivating and rehabilitation of the water reservoir at Letmuck Barracks were commendable.
He posited that the corporation was a partner in the progress of the Nigerian Army “since water is life.”
“The Oyo State Water Corporation is one of the major stakeholders helping the Nigerian Army in achieving the primary responsibility to make Army live, fight and move,” he said.
Aremu added that the Army was seeking collaboration with the corporation on how to get water to Odogbo Barracks, enhance the provision of potable water to the Letmuck Barracks community as well as provide water to the new facilities of the Nigerian Army at Agodi.
Responding, the Chairman of Oyo State Water Cooperation, Mr. Elias Adeojo, said the agency had made the provision of potable water to residents of the state a priority despite the limited resources at its disposal.
Adeojo said Governor Seyi Makinde had given his approval for the rehabilitation of the water equipment of the corporation to meet the yearnings of residents of the state on the provision of potable water.
