Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has been accused by the All Progressive Congress (APC) and a civil society group of commissioning an uncompleted project and running the state like a family enterprise.
The project which is the statues of past Osun State governors standing opposite Osun State
Secretariat, Abere, Osogbo was commissioned by the governor last Tuesday uncompleted.
Governor Adeleke also unveiled the Isiaka Adetunji Memorial Circle, Park, and Garden as a tribute to his elder brother, the state’s first civilian governor, Senator Isiaka Adeleke, using the commissioning of the project to mark the posthumous birthday of his elder brother whom he described as a passionate lover of good governance and a patriot with selfless leadership attributes.
Present at the program were the wife of late Senator Adeleke; Timi of Ede, Oba Muniru Adesola Lawal; the state Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi; Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Teslim Igbalaye; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Kazeem Akinleye; members of the State Executive Council and senior government officials.
However, the PathfinderNews gathered that engineers have resumed work at the site to complete the project.
The Convener of Centre for Responsive Governance, Comrade Ayo Ologun, who chided Adeleke for hurriedly commissioning an uncompleted project said: “Adeleke is running the affairs like a family affair, he built the statue of his elder brother very big and gigantic while others statues of other governors are very small.
“He slated the commissioning of the project to coincide with the birthday date of his elder brother even though the project was yet to be completed. What is the hurry about? He chose to commission an uncompleted project to honor the posthumous birthday of his brother. There is no urgency in commissioning the project that day. It is not right, the enterprise of governance in Osun is not family affairs.”
Similarly, the state branch of All Progressive Congress (APC) through its chairman, Tajudeen Lawal reacted to the incident, “We are not surprised that he commissioned an uncompleted project, the administration is built on lies and deceit. It only appears to those outside the state that he is doing something spectacular.”
