Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have uncovered a baby factory in Lagos, rescuing 28 victims, including pregnant women and children, during a coordinated operation in Badagry.

The victims comprise 17 heavily pregnant women, one adult male, and 10 children—some of whom are infants.
The operation also led to the arrest of two suspects.

According to the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Oluwaseun Abolurin, the breakthrough followed renewed directives by the Commandant General, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, for intensified intelligence-driven operations across the country.

Speaking to journalists in Badagry, the Lagos State Commandant, Adedotun Keshinro, disclosed that the discovery was the result of a three-week surveillance operation.

He explained that operatives stormed the facility located at Okuju, along Ilado Road, during an overnight raid carried out between April 15 and 16.

Keshinro revealed that the suspects allegedly used a Facebook account to lure pregnant women, promising payments ranging from ₦500,000 to ₦1 million in exchange for their babies after delivery.

Preliminary investigations showed that one of the victims lost her pregnancy due to the poor and unhealthy conditions at the facility.

Items recovered from the scene include generators, gas cylinders, mobile phones, and other household materials.

The Commandant condemned the operation of the facility as inhumane and confirmed that both the suspects and rescued victims have been handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for further investigation and prosecution.
