He said that Ekiti State remains a no-go area
for criminals, adding that hoodlums have no hiding place in the State.
Hoodlums from Obbo-Ayegunle Community in Kwara State had on Tuesday attacked the Ilejemeje Local Government Area Secretariat in Ẹda-Oniyọ, and people in the town over a land dispute and caused panic and chaos among workers and people of the town.
The hoodlums heavily armed with dangerous weapons like guns, charms, and cutlasses invaded the Secretariat at about 10:am.
Speaking on the attack, the Eleda of Eda Oniyo community, Oba Awodipo Awolola explained that the hoodlums had in a few days attacked some residents of the community, with charm in their farmlands, the development which the monarch said had resulted in panic and tension in the community.
The traditional ruler who lamented the absence of police posts in the area, said there is a need for security outfits to mobilise more officers to the community to prevent further breaking of law and orders.
Olatunbosun revealed the proactive strategies of the State Government for crime
prevention to include multi-agency partnerships, intelligence-led
policing, problem-solving approaches, and community involvement.
He added that the robust synergy of all the security
agencies contributed immensely to the relative peace and tranquility
the State is enjoying.
The Commissioner assured that the Government would continue to
effectively deploy all available security apparatus and work with
relevant security agencies to guarantee a safe environment for the
residents.
Urging people in the State to go about their lawful businesses without
fear of intimidation, Olatunbosun emphasized the need for citizens to
remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or movement to
relevant security agencies.
Recall that the Ekiti state police command had reportedly alerted residents of the
state of planned attack on motorcyclists and passengers by suspected
hoodlums citing credible intelligence which uncovered the plot by some
armed hoodlums to attack, people especially at night.
Olatunbosun said that the recent advisory issued by the state Command of the Police was not to scare residents and visitors
but to increase vigilance to forestall criminal activities that are
inimical to the prevailing relative peace in the State.
