The governorship ambition declaration by Otunba Olugbenga Peter Obafemi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ekiti State chapter, scheduled to take place on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, has been shifted to Tuesday, August 5, 2025.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had fixed dates for the PDP governorship primary election for October 2025 and the Ekiti State Governorship Election for June 2026.
According to an official letter signed by the Director-General of Olugbenga Peter Obafemi Campaign Organisation, Mr Kunle Ogunjobi, announcing the postponement, the decision was necessitated by the unexpected PDP’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.
The Campaign Organisation, therefore, apologized for any inconvenience this change may have caused the numerous supporters of Otunba Obafemi and appreciates their understanding in this matter.
Otunba Obafemi is a leading PDP governorship aspirant eyeing the Ekiti State Government House in the 2026 Ekiti Governorship Election.

Re: Postponement of Otunba Olugbenga Obafemi Peters’ Governorship Ambition Declaration
We write to inform you that the governorship ambition declaration of Otunba Olugbenga Obafemi Peters, which was previously scheduled to take place on Wednesday, 23rd July 2025, has been postponed to Tuesday, 5th August 2025.
This decision was necessitated by the unexpected Peoples Democratic Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting. We apologize for any inconvenience this change may have caused you and appreciate your understanding in this matter.
