The Administrator of Owutu Archdeaconry of the Lagos West Diocese of the Anglican Communion, Ven Folorunso Oginni, has called on Christian organizations to promote love among themselves in their pursuit of justice and peace in society.
He made the call at the annual general meeting of Christ Morning Star Nigeria which took place at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Owutu, Ikorodu on March 9
Ven Oginni, who was represented at the occasion by Rev Sola Adesanya, said the need to exhibit love is critical to the smooth running of any organization that is interested in promoting peace and justice in the society, which Christ Morning Star Nigeria stands for.
“You’re dealing with human beings. The only way you can effectively impact society is by showing love to yourself. If you show love among yourself, it will be easy to reflect that love in the larger society,” he admonished.
He described Christ Morning Star as a strategic society that has been of immense value to the Anglican Church and, indeed, to Nigerian society.
At the event, the society reelected Ebenezer Sobowale as its president and Mr Tunji Oguntuase as its head of media among others.
The event had an unprecedented crowd of members drawn from all the Anglican dioceses in Lagos.
Shortly after the AGM, which featured the presentation of reports and accounts, members were opportune to ask questions, which were satisfactorily answered by Mr Sobowale, the presiding President, after which the House was dissolved.
The Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Mr. Okeowo Oderinde, then informed the gathering of other members who were elected to run the organization for another three years.
They include Odofin Adeola, Vice President; (Mrs) Esther Omobolanle Hammed, General Secretary; Samuel Kehinde Sanwoolu – Assistant General Secretary; and (Mrs) Lucy Omojeme Ajayi, Treasurer.
Other people elected include
Inamiyang Ann, Financial Secretary, Abisola Olufunmilola Arowolo, Social Secretary and Olumide Sodamola, Welfare Officer 1.
The posts of the 2nd vice chairman and 2nd Welfare Officer were later filled by Mrs. A. Ogedengbe, 2nd Vice chairman, and Mrs Omolara Akhigbe – Welfare 2.
Elected auditors for the organization include Sunday Olukolu and Ahmed A. Yakubu. Ex-officio members are Adetokunbo Oso and Gbenga Ogunwole.
