Suspected terrorists have attacked Madagali, the hometown of Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, abducting six members of a family in the early hours of today.

The attack occurred at Gare Village in Pallam District of Madagali Local Government Area of the state.

Confirming the incident in a statement issued on Tuesday morning, the Adamawa State Police Command spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said the attackers also rustled livestock during the raid.

Nguroje disclosed that a combined rescue team comprising the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army, and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) has been deployed to the area to search for the abducted victims.
The statement read in part:

“The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed an attack on Gare Village, Pallam District, Madagali Local Government Area, in the early hours of today by suspected terrorists, which led to the abduction of six (6) family
members and the rustling of livestock.
“Upon receipt of the report, the Command immediately intensified collaboration and deployed additional personnel and operational assets in a joint operation involving the Nigeria Police Force, troops of 144 Battalion, and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) to the affected area and surrounding communities.”

According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Dankombo Morris, has ordered sustained search-and-rescue operations, reinforced patrols, and increased security presence across Madagali and other border communities to ensure the safe rescue of the victims and prevent
further attacks.

Nguroje added: “The Command, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and other sister security agencies, remains fully committed to protecting lives and property across the state. Further updates will be communicated.”

Meanwhile, Governor Fintiri on Tuesday commenced a tour of the 21 local government areas of the state to assess the security situation and other challenges facing residents.

The attack comes amid rising insecurity in the state. Recently, Hong Local Government Area was attacked, resulting in the death of 12 people and the destruction of several houses.

Similarly, a communal crisis between the Bachama and Chobo communities in Lamurde Local Government Area earlier this year claimed over 20 lives.
