The Renewed Hope Global Virtual Town Hall Conference, a President Bola Tinubu support group, has congratulated literary icon, Professor Wole Soyinka, on the occasion of his 90th birthday.
A leader of the group, Honourable Udeme Ukpe, in a statement on behalf of the conference at the weekend, said “we are honoured to join the world in celebrating the life and achievements of this literary giant, whose contributions have left an indelible mark on Nigeria and the world.
“On behalf of the conference, I salute Professor Soyinka’s immense contributions to literature, human rights and the global cultural landscape.
“Professor Soyinka is a Nobel Laureate, literary icon and an advocate for justice and democracy. His works have transcended borders, resonating with audiences worldwide and highlighting the rich tapestry of African culture,” he said.
Hon. Ukpe highlighted Soyinka’s pioneering role in shaping the world’s perception of Africa through his profound literary works.
“From his powerful plays and essays to his relentless activism, Soyinka has challenged oppressive regimes and championed the cause of the oppressed. His voice has inspired hope and a source of inspiration for countless individuals.
“Soyinka’s influence extends far beyond the realm of literature. His human rights and social justice commitment have significantly impacted Nigeria’s political landscape and the global fight for freedom and equality.
“Professor Soyinka’s fearless pursuit of truth and justice has set a remarkable example for all of us. He has shown that art and activism can coexist, driving meaningful societal change,” he added.
Hon. Ukpe also praised Soyinka’s dedication to nurturing future generations of writers and thinkers. “Through his teaching and mentorship, Soyinka has cultivated a new wave of intellectuals and creatives, ensuring that the stories of Africa continue to be told with authenticity and passion.
“In celebrating this milestone, the Renewed Hope Global Virtual Town Hall Conference acknowledges Professor Wole Soyinka’s enduring legacy.
