Prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in the 2026 election in Ekiti State, Otunba Olugbenga Peter Obafemi (OPO), has congratulated the newly elected chairmen and councilors in the Saturday local government elections in the state.
Obafemi said that the PDP victory in the election is a testament to the general acceptance of the ruling party under Governor Jackson Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke by the people of the state.
In a statement signed by Otunba Olugbenga Peter Obafemi Media Vanguard and made available to journalists on Sunday, said the newly elected 30 chairpersons and 332 councilors deserved their victories at Saturday’s election.
Obafemi also congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke, all the leaders and members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP on the successful outing at the polls, which he linked to the strides of the government, the support of every party member, and the sustained relationships that the party built with the Osun State people.
He urged the newly elected public officers to hit the ground running by delivering more dividends of democracy to the grassroots and complementing the good work of Governor Ademola Adeleke.
PDP governorship hopeful in the 2026 Election in Ekiti State also commended the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) for the peaceful and hugely successful exercise.
Obafemi said, “I’m confident that insights and experiences from the exercise will help to improve future elections in the state and across the country, especially since the leadership of other states’ electoral commissions observed the exercise across the state.
“I commend Osun State voters for their large turnouts for the election, their support for the PDP, and their decent conduct while it lasted. I thank all the political parties for their impressive participation and sportsmanship,”
