The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of planning to use illegal means to grab power in Kano State.

Recall that the NNPP Presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, Alhaji Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso accused the Federal Government of planning to take over Kano State through imposition of state emergency.

In a statement signed on Wednesday by Ladipo Johnson Esq., National Publicity Secretary of the NNPP, the party alleged that the APC is using illegal means to try to snatch power from the duly elected government of Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf.

The party cited the recent amendment to the Kano State Emirate Council law and the reinstatement of Emir Muhammad Sanusi II as examples of the APC’s ‘desperate power grab’.

The NNPP also alleged that the APC is using the judiciary and security forces to undermine the democratic process and incite violence in the state.

The party called on Nigerians to rise against the APC’s “dangerous plot” to destabilize Kano State and snatch power through illegal means.

NNPP said, “The APC has never hidden their vow to make Kano State ungovernable for the rightful winner of the March 18, 2023 Governorship election, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf.

“Who is usurping the authority of the Commander-in-Chief? When did the State Governor cease to be the Chief Security Officer of the State?

“This rather alarming behavior especially after it had been brought to his Lordship’s notice that a validly entered Appeal at the Court of Appeal in the matter was in his Lordship’s file together with a motion for Stay of Proceedings! What is wrong with some of our Judges?

“The associated issues bothering on cruel abuse of power and illegality were what Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso spoke to in Madobi and his views remain relevant and convincing.

“The good people of Kano will stoutly defend their mandate freely given to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, who is doing them proud on account of his sterling stewardship.”
