Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State on Sunday night led a top-level Nigerian delegation to Saudi Arabia for the burial of late industrialist and elder statesman, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata.

The funeral prayer was held in Madina, where the renowned billionaire philanthropist was laid to rest, following his death on Saturday morning in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, after a brief illness.

According to a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Tofa, the delegation included the Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II; Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State; former Governor Ali Sa’ad Birnin Kudu; and other high-ranking government officials.

Speaking to journalists at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport before departure, Governor Yusuf described Dantata as a “father to many,” and a man whose generosity and commitment to humanity transcended national boundaries.

“The late Aminu Dantata represented an era of integrity, faith, and enterprise that helped shape modern Nigeria,” the governor stated.

He said the journey to Madina was not only a religious obligation but also a moral duty to honor a man who had impacted countless lives through charity, business leadership, and national service.

Dantata’s funeral rites are expected to draw Islamic clerics, prominent business leaders, and global dignitaries from across Africa and the Middle East.

Until his death, Dantata was regarded as one of the pillars of Northern Nigeria’s economic development, with a business empire spanning oil, construction, agriculture, and philanthropy.
