Following complaints trailing the just-released 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has initiated a probe into the complaints from candidates nationwide.
Over 8,391 students have submitted formal complaints, citing technical glitches and demanding transparency in the marking process.
JAMB has fast-tracked its annual system review to scrutinize the examination process, focusing on registration, examination, and result release stages.
The board has engaged experts, including members from the Computer Professionals Association of Nigeria and Vice Chancellors from various institutions, to assist in identifying and rectifying potential technical issues.
A statement signed by Fabian Benjamin, Ph.D., Public Communication Advisor, JAMB, reads: “We are particularly concerned about the unusual complaints originating from a few states within the Federation.
“We are currently scrutinizing these complaints to identify and rectify any potential technical issues. If it is determined that there were indeed glitches, we will implement appropriate remedial measures promptly.”
The development comes amid widespread dissatisfaction among candidates and their families, many of whom have taken to social media to express concerns over the results and demand a review.
Some candidates have rejected their results, insisting they do not reflect their actual performance.
The Congress of University Academics (CONUA) has also described the results as disturbing, calling for urgent reforms.
JAMB has assured the public that any identified issues will be addressed in line with its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the examination process.
The board’s review will examine whether technical faults contributed to the unusually low scores, with some candidates scoring below 200 marks out of 400.
