The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has clarified why some candidates are seeing a “No Result Yet” message while checking their Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results.
According to the Board, the status currently applies to underage candidates whose results have not been released pending further consideration under its exceptional candidates policy.
This was contained in a statement signed by Fabian Benjamin, Ph.D., Public Communication Adviser of JAMB.
It reads: “Please be informed that results for underage candidates have not been released. When such candidates attempt to check their results, the system will return the message ‘No Result Yet.’”
JAMB explained that only candidates who will be at least 16 years old by September 30, 2026, are eligible to register for and sit the UTME under normal admission requirements.
However, it noted that underage candidates may still be considered under a special category if they demonstrate exceptional academic ability.
The Board said such candidates must score at least 320 in the UTME and also obtain a minimum of 80 per cent in subsequent screening stages before they can qualify for consideration.
It reads: “Underage candidates may be considered under the exceptional category, provided they demonstrate outstanding ability by scoring 320 and above in the UTME and attaining at least 80% in subsequent screening stages.”
JAMB added that only candidates who meet the 320 benchmark will be shortlisted and invited for the next phase of assessment, based on an agreement previously endorsed by parents of affected candidates.
The Board stressed that, for now, results of underage candidates remain withheld until the process is concluded.
The clarification follows growing concern from parents and candidates who had contacted the Board over the meaning of the “No Result Yet” message on the result-checking portal.
