A socio-political group, RAIN OF BLESSING, has described the alleged abduction and assault of the son of Ekiti State APC governorship aspirant, Abimbola Olajumoke Olawumi, as an act of terrorism, cowardice and attempted murder.

In a press statement signed by its Chairman, Prof. Babatope Alo, and Secretary-General, Rev. Julius Adebiyi and made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday, the group alleged that the incident involved operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, who reportedly invaded the aspirant’s Abuja residence.

The group accused Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, and the Senator representing Ekiti South, Yemi Adaramodu, of sponsoring the action.

RAIN OF BLESSING stated that Olajumoke, one of the aspirants in the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship race in Ekiti State, was disqualified by the party under what it described as questionable circumstances. According to the group, she subsequently approached the court to challenge her alleged disqualification.

Rising from its meeting in Ado Ekiti, the group condemned what it termed “brigandage” by the police, alleging that officers forcefully opened the gate to the Abuja residence, damaged property, and whisked away the aspirant’s son. It further claimed that the young man was physically assaulted during the incident, leading to his hospitalisation.

The group called on the new Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu to restrain the Ekiti State Police Command from allegedly being used as a tool of political oppression and intimidation. It urged that all aggrieved parties be allowed to seek redress peacefully through the courts.

RAIN OF BLESSING also demanded that the police take responsibility for any damaged property and compensate the victim for what it described as an invasion of privacy and physical assault.

The group further advised Governor Oyebanji to address the matter through legal channels rather than allegedly harassing perceived political opponents.

As of the time of this report, neither the Ekiti State Government nor the Ekiti State Police Command had issued an official statement responding to the allegations.
Efforts to obtain comments from the accused parties were unsuccessful.

The incident comes amid heightened political tension ahead of the Ekiti 2026 governorship election and ongoing internal disputes within the APC in the state.
