The new Acting Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rides Disu has declared an immediate end to era of impunity and corruption within the Nigeria Police Force.

Disu stated this after he had been decorated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday in Abuja.

Speaking to State House correspondents, Disu expressed deep emotion, noting that the President’s detailed knowledge of his career achievements was both humbling and a call to action.

“It shows the President was throwing a challenge at me to go out there and do what I’m known for,” Disu remarked, adding that the President’s recognition of his past successes nearly moved him to tears.

He interpreted the appointment as a mandate to restore peace and enhance the country’s reputation through professional policing.

Outlining his vision for the force, the Acting IGP emphasized a shift toward accountability and community-focused service.

He pledged to implement a regime of zero tolerance for corruption and promised to prioritize human rights training for all officers.

Disu stressed that the force’s success is inextricably linked to public trust, vowing to “drum it into” his men that the police cannot succeed without the full cooperation of the Nigerian people.

Tinubu appointed Tunji Disu as Acting IGP following Kayode Egbetokun’s resignation.
