The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has fixed new dates for the congress of Ekiti PDP.
According to a press statement by the Caretaker Chairman of Ekiti State PDP, Chief Dare Adeleke, the ward congress is to hold on Saturday, March 15; the local government congress on Saturday, March 29 and the state congress, on Saturday, April 12, 2025
Speaking further on the new development Adeleke said, “I’m thrilled to confirm that our party’s timetable is officially out, putting an end to speculation”._
“As we move forward, I urge all stakeholders and party faithful to carefully review the attached party congress schedules, meticulously arranged by the PDP National Working Committee.
“As we embark on this significant milestone, I’d like to highlight the importance of understanding the guidelines and timelines outlined in the schedule. This will ensure a seamless and successful congress.
“Let’s work together to make this process a resounding success.
Meanwhile, a PDP governorship aspirant, Otunba Olugbenga Peter Obafemi(OPO) has lauded the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party for resolving the protracted crisis which has hindered the Ekiti PDP from having elected executives.
Otunba Obafemi also praised the doggedness of Chief Adeleke who has been working assiduously for the Ekiti PDP to have elected executives and to return to power in the 2026 governorship election.
He urged all leaders and party members to comply with the rules of the game to have a peaceful, free, and fair congress.
Similarly, another PDP chieftain, Mr Wole Akindele has lauded the national leadership of the party and Dare Adeleke-led caretaker committee for the Congress slated to begin on Saturday.
Akindele said, “It is no more news that the long awaiting PDP congress in Ekiti State will commence on 15th March 2025 with ward congress across the 177 wards in Ekiti State. The entire PDP faithful received this new development with joy and happiness.
“The new dates were clarified and made public by the secretary to the Stakeholders committee in Ekiti State Hon Deji Ogunsakin. According to the memo from the NWC and signed by the National Organizing Secretary, Hon Umar M. Bature, the ward congress shall be held on Saturday, 15th March 2025, while the Local Government Congress is scheduled for 29th March 2025. The State Congress to elect members of the State Working Committee will come up by 12th April 2025.
” The approval of the new dates had put an end to the speculations by party members on why Ekiti State Congress has not come up despite different attempts. Lots of rumor peddlers are going about with different stories on why Ekiti State PDP congress is put on hold. We could all remember that the congress had been scheduled and postponed severally due to some technical political issues.
“We sincerely appreciate our rugged and faithful State Caretaker Chairman, Chief Dare Adeleke, for this giant stride. Chief Adeleke has vowed to conduct a free, fair, and credible party congress in Ekiti State. Our appreciation also goes to the National Working Committee (NWC) of our great party, PDP, for tolerating us this far. We also thank all our leaders for their support to the CTC chairman Chief Dare Adeleke, without them this new step may have not been achieved”
