The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Wole Oluyede, has continued to expand his political outreach ahead of the June 20, 2026 election, holding a strategic meeting with Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan in Abuja.
According to a press statement by the Wole Oluyede Campaign Organisation and made available to journalists by the Press Secretary to the Organisation, Idowu Adelusi, the meeting took place in Abuja, where Oluyede was in the Federal Capital Territory for a series of consultative engagements with key stakeholders regarding his candidacy.
Political observers say the latest move signals a deliberate shift in the campaign’s strategy, with a renewed focus on mobilising non-indigene voters residing in Ekiti State.
Akpoti-Uduaghan, a prominent political figure in North-Central Nigeria, is widely regarded for her grassroots mobilisation strength, particularly among Ebira and Okun communities. Her involvement is expected to bolster Oluyede’s outreach to Kogi indigenes living in Ekiti—many of whom are engaged in trading, farming, and public service.
Sources within the campaign indicate that this demographic could play a decisive role in closely contested local government areas, making their support critical to the PDP’s electoral calculations.
The meeting was attended by key members of Oluyede’s campaign team, including Ola Alonge and Sunday Anifowoshe, suggesting a coordinated effort to align legal, political, and grassroots mobilisation strategies.
With the Ekiti governorship race entering its final stretch, Oluyede’s engagements in Abuja are seen as part of a broader “big tent” approach aimed at consolidating national support while building strategic alliances across regional lines.
Analysts note that the PDP is banking on internal unity and high-profile endorsements to strengthen its position against the incumbent administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
As the campaign intensifies, the outcome of such alliances may prove pivotal in shaping the dynamics of the June 20 poll.
