Davido, in a display of grandeur, cruised to his wedding in a 2023 Mercedes Maybach, a car known for its luxury and exclusivity.
The Nigerian superstar is marrying his long-time fiancee, Chioma Rowland, today at a lavish star-studded ceremony in Lagos.
The wedding, which included former Nigerian president Oluṣẹgun Ọbasanjọ and other affluent Nigerian socialites like Cubana Chief Priest, saw the award-winning singer cruising in one of his most expensive luxury cars.
The iconic car is a collaboration series between Mercedes-Maybach and the late Ghanaian-American designer Virgil Abloh. Only 150 examples of the special-edition Maybach S 680 sedan were produced worldwide.
Undoubtedly, the 2023 Mercedes Maybach Virgil Abloh S680 is a unique choice for Davido’s big day. The singer took to social media to share the moment he was chauffeured to his traditional amidst top security and cheers from fans and observers.
He captioned the post, “Nigeria is happy.” After barely two hours, the post has gathered over 70,000 comments from Instagram users.
Davido shipped the car to Nigeria last year at a reported cost of $120,000. The vehicle was released in honour of Virgil Abloh’s life after his passing. Vigil had previously worked on Mercedes-Benz’s Geländewagen car before his untimely death at the age of 41.
According to Ola of Lagos, a Nigerian socialite known for reviewing luxury cars, Davido was the first African to bring the 2023 Mercedes Maybach to Africa.
Davido, the Nigerian Afrobeats superstar, and Chioma Avril Rowland, a chef and influencer, have been in an on-and-off relationship that has captured public attention since they went public in 2018.
The couple got engaged in 2019 and welcomed their son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, later that year. Sadly, he died at age three after unfortunately drowning in a pool at home. However, Davido and Chioma were later blessed with twins.
Despite facing various challenges, including cheating allegations, break-up rumours, and public scrutiny, the duo remain a power couple that continues to attract buzz daily. The lovers married legally in 2023 and are now gracing it with a ceremony.

An Instagram video captured the heartwarming moment in which Davido prostrated in front of his bride’s parents during his ongoing traditional wedding in Lagos State on June 25, 2024. The event compere then asked him to beg for their daughter’s hand in marriage, as is tradition.
She said, “Tell us how you are going to take care of her for record purposes, you know you have sung about it and talked about it.”
As the singer lay on the ground, he highlighted his intentions for Chioma as directed, saying, “I have only two words, lifetime assurance.”

His statement caused the crowd to erupt into loud cheers, and then he added, “I promise you that your daughter will be protected, respected and connected. Mummy, Daddy I love you. Everybody knows that I’m happy for this day and this is the happiest day of my life.”
After Davido got on his feet, the crowd erupted in more cheers.

The video posted by label executive Ubi Franklin showed the couple kneeling before Chiomas parents at the venue as Chioma’s father prayed for them.
He prayed, “David and Chioma, on Christ the solid rock you will stand, if you think you have made it, what the Lord would do is almost 10 times what you see. You are blessed in the morning afternoon and night, everywhere you go there will be light. Anywhere you go where there is confusion, your presence will bring direction.

After the prayers concluded and the singer raised his head, his tear-streaked face was not missed and his tears were promptly dabbed away by his groomsman.

Back in 2018, there were already rumours of Davido and an unidentified young lady in a relationship in late 2017 after Snapchat videos from the music star with the said lady surfaced online.
However, in January 2018, Davido made it known to the world that he was in a relationship after he took the young lady (Chioma) to a private family event in Ede, Osun State.

Though uncertain, the lovebirds were speculated to have started dating sometime around 2015, but they kept their relationship private. On Sunday, October 20, 2019, Davido announced on his Twitter page that Chioma had given birth to a baby boy whom they named David Adedeji Ifeanyi Adeleke Jnr.

Davido and Chioma were supposed to have their wedding in 2020 but the coronavirus pandemic halted the plans for the festivities.

November 2022: Davido and Chioma’s son Ifeanyi sadly passes away.
In 2022, tragedy struck when the pair lost their son to a drowning mishap at their home, while they were away. According to the news that circulated on social media, Ifeanyi who clocked three years old eleven days before fell into a pool where he was found drowned. He was later rushed to a hospital in Lekki where he was confirmed dead on arrival.

March 2023 : Davido reveals that he and Chioma secretly tied the knot
He made this big reveal in an exclusive interview with content creator and actress, Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori. Davido said, “Just being away, you know I have had a lot to think about definitely. Time to rest, reflect on a lot of family time and time to make music again. You know, I remade the album. Before I went on a break I actually had an album ready. I had a tour ready. June 2023: The baby mama scandals
In June 2023, the internet was set ablaze after two ladies came out with claims of pregnancy for Davido. American lady Anita Brown and French lady Ivanna Bey claimed to have had sexual encounters with the singer, and Brown even stated that Chioma was pregnant with twins at the time.

October 2023: They welcome twin babies
In 2023, the couple welcomed a set of twins to the world in the US and the news brought great joy to the singer’s fans. The speculations about the birth of the children first became public online on October 10, 2023, but were unconfirmed by the singer.
In a viral video posted on Friday, October 13, the happy couple were captured outside a hospital, with Chioma holding their newborn babies in her hands, while sat on a wheelchair.

Davido revealed a vision his dad, Deji Adeleke, told him he had about him.
The ‘OBO’ crooner stated that his dad told him that he had a vision that he would end his music career up as a gospel singer.
