Gunmen abduct journalist’s wife, daughters, others in Kaduna

Gunmen have abducted 11 family members including the wife and two daughters of a Kogi-based journalist, Muhammed Bashir, in Kaduna State.

Bashir’s wife, Aminat, and his two daughters, Aisha and Hajara, were said to have arrived in Kaduna on Thursday for a holiday with her family members.

Bashir, a correspondent with the New Telegraph, in a terse statement, disclosed the abduction to colleagues on Friday in Lokoja.

“My dear colleagues, please, I need your prayers, my two daughters and their mother, including eight others, were kidnapped yesterday by unknown gunmen in Kaduna, where they went for a holiday. Pls, pray for me,” he wrote in the Kogi correspondent chapel WhatsApp platform.

Other members of the family, According to him include Aisha Saba Khadija, Haruna, Adamu Haruna, Muhammad Abubakar, Asmau Abubakar, Usman Abubakar, Muhammad Abubakar, and Hauwa Muhammad.

He said he had contacted the police and the Department of State Security services and had been assured that steps were being taken to rescue the victims and arrest the kidnappers.
