The Renewed Hope Global Virtual Conference, a pro-Tinubu group, has appealed to Nigerian youths to cease the ongoing protests against hardship across the country.

The group, in a statement entitled; “A Message of Commiserations to Nigerians,” signed by the chief host of the conference, Barrister Joseph Kolawole Adebola, and made available to journalists on Saturday, sympathised with families of citizens who have lost their lives so far in the unrest.

“Due to the unfortunate incidents that occurred in various states in the federation during the protest that started on Thursday, 1st August, the team behind The Renewed Hope Global Virtual Town Hall Conference wishes to inform the general public that your much-loved weekly virtual conference will be rested this Saturday in commiserations with those who lost their lives in the protest.

“Our sympathy goes to the families of those who sadly lost their lives during the protest; and we pray for the repose of their souls.
“There are lessons to be learned from this to the effect that dialogue is a better option for tabling whatever grievances we may have regarding the precarious situation in the country.

“That we have a listening president, who is receptive, is not in doubt and this administration has taken very bold and difficult steps with a view to ensuring an egalitarian governance and a better future for Nigerians, including the recent minimum wage and the financial autonomy for local governments to ensure that the benefits accruing from the removal of fuel subsidy which has culminated in increased monthly allocations to states permeates to and is felt by the grassroots.

“As all the progressive policies and programmes of this administration are at gestation period, what is required of us as citizens is patience as patriotic Nigerians for the policies to bed in and begin to reap the required reward in a short while.

“I attended a big national assignment yesterday, Friday, 2nd August, on a Twitter Space with over 600 participants to address national issues and help calm the nerves of the nation with an appeal to the protesters to choose dialogue instead of protests and avoid further breach of the peace and loss of lives.

“All indices show that the country is on a trajectory to economic recovery. We cannot afford to jeopardise it with protests that are fast snowballing into chaos with attendant looting of businesses and loss of lives.

“The Renewed Hope Global Virtual Town Hall Conference organisers, hereby, plead with Nigerians, especially the youths, to shelve the protests, stay off the streets and choose the path of dialogue. It is the most sensible thing to do. Nigeria and Nigerians will be the better for it.

“In our quest to continue to add value to this administration, our virtual conference will resume next week with another VVIP from the administration of President Tinubu to engage with Nigerians as usual on issues of national importance.

“You are all advised to keep next weekend free in your diary and join to participate in the weekly virtual conference,” the statement read.
