The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday formally launched its campaign for the 2026 governorship election in Ekiti State, drawing thousands of supporters and a powerful lineup of governors and party leaders who rallied behind Governor Biodun Oyebanji and his re-election bid.

The event, held at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti, turned into a major show of political strength, with party faithful filling the venue to capacity in what observers described as an early signal of momentum for the ruling party.

The rally brought together top political figures from across the country, reinforcing what party leaders called a united front to sustain development and ensure continuity in governance.

Addressing the crowd, Governor Biodun Oyebanji said his administration has delivered on key promises made to the people, noting that the progress recorded in the last three and a half years was driven by deliberate planning, purposeful leadership, and strong collaboration with the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani described the election as a clear choice between continuity and disruption, urging Ekiti residents to support a government that has demonstrated measurable results. He emphasized that governance should be judged by impact, not rhetoric.

Similarly, Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma called for overwhelming support for the incumbent, assuring voters of nationwide backing from the APC.

On the legislative front, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele described the rally as a celebration of leadership and unity, portraying Oyebanji as a bridge-builder who has strengthened political harmony in Ekiti. He added that the party would intensify grassroots mobilization in the coming weeks.

Former governors also threw their weight behind the campaign. Kayode Fayemi expressed confidence in Oyebanji’s leadership, while Segun Oni urged voters to turn out in large numbers and set a new electoral record.

In a notable twist, Ayodele Fayose, a member of the opposition PDP, said his presence at the rally was driven by what he described as the “Ekiti agenda,” placing the state’s development above party affiliation.

Elder statesman and former governor Niyi Adebayo described the re-election push as a collective mission of the Ekiti people, urging continued support for the governor.

At the state level, APC Chairman Barrister Elesin Omoleye said the rally marked the beginning of an intensified campaign effort, while party coordinators pledged to mobilize support across all local government areas.

Religious leaders, including representatives of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Muslim groups, offered prayers for peaceful campaigns and elections.

The rally ended on a high note, with chants of support echoing across the venue as party leaders expressed confidence in securing victory in the 2026 governorship election.

Dignitaries at the event included Governor Biodun Oyebanji; Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani; Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma; Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo; Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa; Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo; Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori; Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele; and former governors Kayode Fayemi, Segun Oni, Ayodele Fayose, and Niyi Adebayo, alongside members of the National Assembly and party stakeholders.
