A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Gabriel Adewale Ojo, has declared that the party’s governorship candidate, Wole Oluyede, remains the best option to lead Ekiti State ahead of the 2026 election.

Ojo, a former Chairman of the Ekiti State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, made the remarks during a PDP stakeholders’ meeting held in Ikere-Ekiti last Friday.

According to a statement issued by the Campaign’s Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, the PDP stalwart described Oluyede as an experienced and credible leader with the capacity to reposition the state for sustainable development.

Popularly known as “Ojo Oloogun,” he said Ekiti’s economic potential has remained largely untapped due to poor infrastructure and lack of clear policy direction over the years.

He noted that Oluyede’s vision is centered on creating a business-friendly environment driven by improved infrastructure, transparent governance, and investor-focused policies aimed at boosting economic growth.

“By strengthening key sectors such as agriculture, tourism, education, and technology, Ekiti will not only attract investments but also sustain them for long-term prosperity,” Ojo stated.

He added that Oluyede’s agenda represents a strategic plan to transform Ekiti into a competitive economic hub where businesses can thrive and opportunities are accessible to all.

Ojo also expressed confidence in the PDP candidate’s integrity, insisting that his track record and personal standing would prevent any form of betrayal of public trust.

Taking a swipe at Governor Biodun Oyebanji, the PDP chieftain described the current administration as underperforming, alleging widespread dissatisfaction among residents across the state.

He further criticised what he termed excessive “godfatherism” in the present government, vowing that such practices would not continue under an Oluyede administration.

Ojo concluded by assuring that Oluyede would prioritise capital projects and deliver more impactful development if elected governor.

He therefore urged residents of Ekiti State to cast their votes for Wole Oluyede in the forthcoming election, stressing that their support would be decisive.

He also cautioned voters against engaging in vote-selling, warning them to resist any inducement from agents of Governor Biodun Oyebanji and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“Do not sell your votes,” he urged, calling on the electorate to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process.
