President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that he remains unfazed by what he described as a growing alliance among opposition political parties, particularly the African Democratic Congress (ADC), insisting that no coalition can intimidate him out of office.
Speaking while hosting the Renewed Hope Ambassadors at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Tinubu dismissed claims of a political conspiracy against his administration, stressing that he would not back down from his mandate.
“They want to scare me off—it is a lie,” the President said. “I have been through this path before, and if I have to do it again, I will.”
Tinubu urged opposition parties to respect democratic principles and obey judicial rulings, emphasizing the importance of the rule of law in sustaining Nigeria’s democracy.
“We cannot submit to disobedience of lawful court orders. Whether judgments favour us or not, we must embrace the judiciary and uphold the principles of democracy,” he stated.
The President also charged members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors—a group tasked with promoting his administration’s policies—to take the message of hope and reform to the grassroots.
According to him, the initiative represents a broader effort to “break the shackles of poverty and ignorance” while fostering national unity and progress.
“There is no better place than your own country. No one else can build it for us. We must work together to create one nation with a shared vision for prosperity,” Tinubu added.
Addressing the state of the economy, Tinubu acknowledged existing challenges but maintained that his administration has taken decisive steps to stabilize and grow the nation’s finances.
“I took over from myself,” he said, referencing his political alignment with the late Muhammadu Buhari. “If something is wrong, we correct it and move forward.”
He assured Nigerians that despite current hardships, reforms under his administration would ultimately yield positive results, pointing to improvements in key economic indicators.
In a veiled criticism of opposition figures, Tinubu questioned past privatization efforts, citing the underperformance of key national assets such as the Ajaokuta Steel Company.
Earlier, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma explained that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors programme was designed to simplify and communicate government policies effectively at the grassroots level.
Similarly, former Katsina State Governor Aminu Masari noted that reform-driven leadership often faces resistance but commended the administration for pressing ahead despite challenges.
Tinubu concluded by assuring supporters of his commitment to delivering on his promises.
“I will not run away. I will not give up,” he said.
