Gov Radda: The fog on our radar

Imagined! A sitting governor ferociously laying empty claims to stealing rights? You too wonder aloud? But it did happen! Yes. We have one in terrorists-invested Katsina State. And he’s proud to be so associated. He denies it not.
He relies heavily on his strongest arsenal: “Others also do steal.” Why singling out only governors from the legion of thieves? The more, the merrier. He would want to say. So? Let the stealing go on and spread around. No stopping it!
That’s the apparent sing-song on the lips of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda the other day. And he meant every of its lyrics. He will sing it many, many times over. Again and again. Loud and clear. He may even make it a lifetime melody.
Armed with this weird thought process, he sauntered roughly into our choked space. What he vomited thereafter remains evergreen and everlasting. His audacious utterance defines their type of governance. And the confused, warped mindsets of our rulers.
Needless to say. He made the day very unpleasant for us. Trust us. We won’t forget that rude intervention in a hurry. He displayed disgusting executive exuberance in his utterances. He was reckless and care-free. His brazen approach wasn’t funny at all.
Radda is on our radar, uninvited. He superintendents over Katsina State. That is where he holds sway and calls the shots. Running it like never before. And as he selfishly pleases. Perhaps. Reason he’s in cut-throat competition with terrorists.
Contending for authority. In the same state he was elected, but pretends to govern. Pity, the terrorists won’t allow him that luxury. Terrorists are at edge. Governor is on edge. He’s holding on practically to nothingness. It’s huge.
That’s not the case with his tormentors, the terrorists. They are at the forefront. Surging on effortlessly, seamlessly. And with a clear advantage. Radda is feeling nervous. Greatly worried and afraid. He’s unsure of what may happen any moment. You can’t but sympathise with him.
This is why. By our rough last count. The state is slipping away from Radda. Terrifying data and figures from our radar confirmed this. We are frightening, frozen to the marrows.
It was a pact no sane clime would dare. No lucid mind would bargain for. It was as great treat. And the terrorists feasted on it with relish. They were in convincing control of the odd situation from start-to-finish.
All the stakeholders were compelled to be fully on ground. Principally local government chairmen and traditional rulers. Attendance was both compulsory and mandatory. And they must be punctual. They had no viable choice. Comply, they did.
They did arrive early enough. They couldn’t have missed it. A golden opportunity offered by the terrorists. A rare window in our queer clime. They grabbed it. And ran with it. Who would not! They were the hosts. They must live to that billings. And they did that to the admiration of their guests.
The guest-terrorists stormed the venue in their strong elements. They didn’t pretend. They held their hosts in their jugulars. Fully in control. Even though they were supposed to the guests. They took direct charge firmly. Heavily armed to the teeth.
They came for a serious business. Good enough. Their message wasn’t lost on their fidgeting hosts. They were nervous. Completely confused. And that happened many times over. While the uneasy parley lasted.
The exact opposite was the case with their terrorist guests. They made awful and dreaded display. It was a powerful statement of the hard stuff they are made of. A stark and raw demonstration of their unmatched prowess.
Their hosts were dead alive! They shivered, quivered uncontrollably. They cringed and shrank. All through the one-hour plus “dialogue.” They were extremely uncomfortable.
A glaring case of; “As he dey pain them (hosts), he dey sweet us (guests).” The hosts wished the confab ended the very minute it started. What a wishful thinking! It never happened. They couldn’t abandon the unholy project. That would be a monumental risk.
Despite the tensed-up situation. The deed was done. It was signed, sealed and delivered. Radda’s government brokered the truce itself. But when the dust eventually settled. Government willingly negotiated out 20 of its 34 local government areas. Ceded to terrorists, bandits, et al. For peace to reign. So, they claimed.
Radda happily coasted home with remnants. Leftovers of merely 14 LGs. Such is the wholesome negotiation skill of the terrorists. Radda’s is not anywhere near. He couldn’t have. The whole procedure was evil and ungodly.
The governor was unperturbed. He cared less. He’s irrevocably committed to the negotiated peace. No matter whose ox is gored or brutally bruised. He forged ahead unhindered, unrestrained. The process of actualising the madcap deal is in speedy progress.
All ugly hands are on deck. The treaty must not collapse. Radda vowed these terrorists must be appeased. Their kith and kin. They’re gods of some detestable sort. Never must they be offended. Or provoked again.
The motion is on. To at least, ensure the peace of the graveyard. In those subdued 20 LGAs. It’s that worse and messy. Deepening gravely by the second. Chairmen of the annexed councils were compelled to kow-tow.
Under the heavy weight of their overlord terrorists. The terrorists have their greedy fill to the fullest. While the LG bosses lick their ever-festering wounds. Maximum pity!
Radda took it upon himself. He vowed to high heavens. This monstrous pact must be implemented. And to the letters. Nothing must stand on its rough path. To make it happen the way he wanted it. A classified “SECRET” document surfaced on January 2, 2026.
Katsina State Ministry of Justice wrote the Chief Judge (CJ). It sought the intervention of the Administration of Criminal Justice Monitoring Committee (ACJMC). Forty-eight suspected terrorists, bandits be set free forthwith:
“As one of the conditions ‘precedent’ for the continuance of the peace accord deal signed between the frontline local governments and the bandits.” Not done yet.
The letter insisted that another 22 suspects must be released “under the same peace arrangement.” The Chief Judge was strongly warned to take “necessary action.” Pray! The US and Israel are taking good notice of this.
For now. Insecurity appears to be inconsequential to Radda. He made a discovery; governors’ stealing right. He lashed in onto it with vigour. He has divested. He elected to up his game. And strived hard to move on untroubled, unmoved.
Help! He’s the blip that blurs us. Making viewing unusually unpleasant for us. He’s interrupting us rudely. He’s choking and smothering. The irritant we detest with enormous disgust. Radda is it!
Pity. He’s doing all of it for the ridiculous. Yes, for completely selfish reasons. And that’s wrong. That’s why we’re shouting out loud. With our delicate hearts. And all the strengths nature endows us.
Radda has a strange conviction in him. And he wants us to align. He’s desperate for our alliance. The reason he insists. It must sink in us. That governors are not the only thieves around.
There are others, in millions, outside government. He doesn’t end it there. So, governors, like these million others, have the right to steal. What an unsound argument. Warped logic. He forgets so easily. And this is key and germane. Whoever steals can maim, kill and destroy.
A thief demolishes whatever obstructs his access. He’s nothing short of a wolf. Ever on rampage and ravaging. Wild, riotous and at maximum alert. Outlandish in actions and inactions. Savagely looking out for whom to devour.
He identifies his prey, isolates. And bombs it with absolute precision. Nothing must obstruct his way of stealing. These are sterling and startling qualities of our rulers. They hold them dear to their crooked hearts. Radda aptly demonstrated such. And he approved of it to be noble.
Stealing is their right! It’s richly embedded in their so-called manifestoes. And padded in their annual budgets. A yearly ritual of some ugly sort. Governors cherish their season of budget rites.
They wait with bated breath for the period of churning out lies for a budget. That’s the worst moment for the oppressed masses. They are forced to listen to figures they can’t forever comprehend.
Even, some governors encounter challenges in like manner. They find it extremely difficult to pronounce offbeat figures. Yet, find it comfortable to steal. The same outrageous figures they can’t enunciate correctly. To their obscured minds, they’re perfectly on course (curse?). Performing the most “sacred” aspect of their bizarre rights.
Listen to Radda. Their unsolicited arrowhead. He was visibly irked that day. Evidently irritated by his critics. He couldn’t pretend he was not annoyed. He showcased it fuming. He took up arms against his tormentors. He angrily asked to the thin air: “Are governors the only thieves in Nigeria?”
No one cared to answer him. He was roundly ignored. Still, he raged on. He did an unwise follow-up. He queried: “How many people have been caught with stolen money that does not even equal half of a governor’s earnings?” What a question!
This time, he was totally abandoned. He then sought in vain to “be treated as a serious trust.” Whatever that is to him! He became even more lonely. He subtly pronounced a judgement on himself: “Leadership is a responsibility.
“If you don’t answer before people, you will answer before God. The real test of governance is ensuring that public funds are used to benefit the people.” This is deep. It’s of great insight.
We’re exceedingly glad he did what he did. We couldn’t agree with Radda less! He nailed it on head. That’s the factual fact! The earliest everyone realised this, the best for us all.
Our leaders should strain their ears. And stretch their stiffed necks. Listen to the wise sayings of King Solomon. It they stay away from the warnings therein, they’re ultimately made. Proverbs 6: 17-19, KJV:
“A proud look, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, Feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, And he that soweth discord among brethren.”
Distinct. It can only be in the Holy book of all times. Our rulers should hearken to its steps and statues. And all their paths will be straight. Radda has chosen his choice. He is defiant and confrontational. It’s appalling and nauseating. And such is a governor! Sordid!
One thing is crystal clear. Radda is the cataract our eyes don’t deserve or desire; the Radda blurring our radar, our vision
May his ilk suffer instant extinction. Never to reappear on our radar for life!
