The Super Eagles of Nigeria completed a flawless Group C campaign at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with a composed 3–1 victory over Uganda on Tuesday.
Already assured of qualification, Nigeria maintained their momentum as Paul Onuachu and Raphael Onyedika delivered the goals that sealed a third consecutive win in the group.
The Super Eagles took control midway through the first half when Onuachu powered home a header in the 28th minute, capping a dominant spell of pressure. Uganda responded with renewed urgency after the break and briefly threatened a comeback when Salim Magoola pulled one back in the 56th minute.
Nigeria, however, quickly restored their authority. Onyedika struck six minutes later to re-establish a two-goal advantage before adding his second of the night in the 67th minute with a decisive finish that effectively settled the contest.
Uganda continued to press and found the net again through Rogers Mato in the 75th minute, but Nigeria remained composed in the closing stages to comfortably see out the match.
The result leaves Nigeria top of Group C with nine points from three matches, having scored eight goals and conceded four. Uganda finish bottom of the group with one point despite flashes of resilience.
With three wins from three, the Super Eagles now turn their attention to the knockout phase, where they are expected to face one of the best third-placed teams from Groups A, B or F in the round of 16 on January 6.
