On Monday, 1 September of this year, I ran an article entitled; “Sex Against The Order of Nature.” It was featured in Volume 19, No.200 of the Nigerian News Direct newspaper. Many people were shocked by it and also enraged that one of our very own daughters is so brazen to put her immorality on display for the whole world to see. Not just put it on display but she was bragging about it. Nothing I have heard by way of threats, coercion, insinuation or misplaced invitation to sympathise with lesbians since I wrote the article has changed my mind. I am standing firm. Why?
Immorality is immorality and the law is the law. If both are broken, there as to be consequences, otherwise as a society, we are doomed. For the avoidance of doubt, here is what I published before:
“Here we go again my people. Let us have a serious conversation about our wayward
lesbian daughters who have lost their way and are burning with desire for the same-sex. According to the Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary, lust is defined as a very strong sexual desire, especially when love is not involved, or a very strong desire for something or pleasure in something, often with a disapproving connotation. It can also
mean to have such a desire for someone or something, as in “to satisfy her lust…”
So, when a woman begins to lustfully desire to consume, enjoy sex with another woman against the order of nature, we can only conclude that something is broken in that female or the spirit of immorality has overwhelmed the poor soul. So, do we respond by saying; ‘Oh child, I will be praying for your healing’ or do we erroneously
conclude that a proper shag with a good man will cure her lust for sure?
This Summer, I was covering the Glasgow Pride Festival in Scotland. Glasgow Pride 2025 was a celebration of LGBTQIA+ equality. It took place on Saturday, July 19, with the main march gathering at Glasgow Green at noon, proceeding to George Square and ending at the Barrowland Ballroom.
The event featured a vibrant parade with floats, banners, and music, and included a festival with various activities and performances and as with all pride events, all our lost Nigerian sons and daughters were there in full regalia, hugging, laughing, giggling, carousing, kissing the same sex, flaunting all their assets and mixing with the
white people, doing their thing. In our Nigerian culture that will be lawlessness. In our legal system, they will all be rounded up and facing 14 good years in jail to help them
get good rehabilitation or a deep rethink. At least that is what former President Jonathan Goodluck assume in 2013 when he banned such evil. Alas, there is no luck in that move at all because the evil could not be curtailed. Not then and not now.
There among the crowd, flanked on either side by her lesbian Caucasian partners Lisa and Sharon was Opeyemi Enitan Olowoyo. She was dressed in a white top, white trousers, white shoes, wearing LGBT logo on her T-shirt and co-flaunting the rainbow flag. She was giggling, smiling broadly, willing to chat to anyone, full of life and totally oblivious to the sinful nature within her. I asked her if she is really gay?
She said; “I am who I am. Anyway, I was Bisexual, but now, I am a lesbian. I am all woman! I have gone off men! I had enough! All I ever got was domestic violence galore, marital rape, verbal and emotional abuse, blackmail and torture…” She seemed determined to speak out and get some of the pain off her chest. I did not have to prod her at all. She kept talking and I was recording it. She assumed I am gay (Allah forbid!) and that I was just covering the event as ‘one of us’ kind of assumption.
So, you are a divorcee then I asked politely. She said; “Oh yes!” Have you always been bisexual? I asked, pushing further into the conversation. She said; “Oh no! I was already a lesbian. I was forced to marry my ex, to cure me of it all. Did that work I asked? She rolled her eyes with a cynical laughter and said; “You cannot cure a lesbian. It is not a disease. It is a reality! It is who we are!” At that point she pushed
on with her lovers, feeling triumphant.
After every pride event I have covered for the press, I always left feeling sad, depressed and wishing there is a way to save this lost generation who are happy to celebrate the perverse, indulge in everything naughty, explore sexual pleasure to obscene levels, be a rebel, as if trying to say something to a world who is not listening. The more they are ignored by the mainstream society, the more determined they are to keep shouting; “Look at us! We are homosexuals! We are lesbians! We are queer! We are transgender! We must be heard, and accepted to love whoever we
want to and have sex with anyone we choose.”
Christianity does not agree or condone such nonsense. The most specific passage that addresses lesbian relationships is found in the Bible in Romans 1:26-27a: “For this reason God gave them up to dishonourable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another.”
It is clear in this context that lesbian relationships are mentioned. The note that “the men likewise gave up natural relations” also shows the parallel with the actions of the women mentioned in the passage.
The Book of Romans Chapter 1, also makes clear that these activities are considered
sinful. Same sex relations, including lesbian relationships, were called “dishonourable passions” that were “contrary to nature.” The following verse adds, “And since they did
not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what
ought not to be done” (Romans 1:28).
In Islam, the Holy Quran says marriage is only between a man and woman. Since you cannot have sex outside of marriage, lesbianism is forbidden. In the hadith from Abu Musa al-Ash’ari, the Prophet states that: “If a woman comes upon a woman, they are both adulteresses, if a man comes upon a man, then they are both adulterers.”
The Nigerian law says; “Same-sex intimacy is illegal throughout the country under
the Federal Criminal Code Act (2004) and the Penal Code (Northern States) Federal
Provisions Act (1959). Furthermore, twelve northern states in the country have adopted Shariah, punishing same-sex relations with death and criminalizing gender expressions that do not correspond with gender norms associated with the sex assigned at birth. In 2014, the Same-Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act (SSMPA) was signed into law. The Act criminalizes same-sex marriage and displays of affection between
people of the same gender and imposes a 10-year prison sentence on anyone who
“registers, operates, or participates in gay clubs, societies, and organizations.
Taking into account in the case of Opeyemi Enitan Olowoyo, it is fair to say, her sexual practices are anti-Christian, anti-Islamic and very much anti-Nigeria. So, what should we do with her should she be bold enough to come back to Nigeria?
I will let you the people decide. I feel sorry for her parents. They tried!
However, we invite the Nigerian police to take note, unless our laws are without teeth. I assure you SSMPA is not a joke. Hell awaits Opeyemi Olowoyo! Yes, sir!
To be or not to be? That is the question.
