Tinubu hails Hilda Baci for winning GWR of cooking World’s Largest Pot of Jollof Rice

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has hailed celebrity chef Hilda Baci’s achievement at cooking the wold’s largest pot of jollof rice, describing it as a symbol of national pride and global excellence.

In a post shared on its official X account, Guinness World Records announced:

“New record: Largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice – 8,780 kg (19,356 lb 9 oz) achieved by Hilda Baci and Gino in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.” They wrote.

The achievement came after a grand culinary spectacle held on September 12, 2025, at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The President spoke through the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, noting that the President’s praised Baci’s resilience and dedication.

“The Federal Government lauds Hilda Baci’s extraordinary effort in putting Nigeria once again on the global map. Her dedication to excellence and her unrelenting pursuit of greatness exemplify the Nigerian spirit that the world has come to appreciate,” Idris said.

The government also pledged support for similar projects that highlight Nigeria’s cultural and creative excellence, urging young Nigerians to emulate Baci’s discipline and determination.

Baci once again placed Nigeria on the global culinary stage after completing her ambitious attempt to cook the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.

The record-breaking event, held on Friday at Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos, turned into a full-blown food festival with over 20,000 people registered to attend. The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement as food vendors, influencers, and culture enthusiasts gathered to witness history in the making. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
A Mega Jollof Challenge

The attempt featured a custom-built six-metre-wide pot designed to hold an astonishing 22,619 litres of jollof rice. Baci revealed she used 250 bags of rice for the challenge, with servings distributed to the massive crowd once the dish was ready.

The event combined food, culture, and entertainment, making it more than just a record attempt but a celebration of Nigerian identity.

This is not Baci’s first global spotlight. In 2023, she gained international recognition after smashing the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon, clocking an incredible 93 hours in the kitchen.

Her latest feat comes amid the famous Nigeria vs Ghana jollof rivalry, reigniting debates and pride around the dish that has long been a cultural symbol across West Africa.
