The Oyo State Command of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) confirmed that four people died and several others were injured in an early road accident in Ibadan today involving four trailers, four Micra cars, and one Toyota Camry along the Soka axis of the Ibadan-Lagos Expressway.
According to an eyewitness, the accident happened when a trailer in front collided with another trailer that was attempting to reverse out of an abandoned filling station near Soka.
This led to a chain reaction, as three other trailers coming behind, following too closely, also collided, crashing into four Micra cars and a Camry.
While several passengers sustained serious injuries, one particular Micra was completely crushed, leading to the death on the spot of the driver and three other passengers.
A couple who boarded the Micra from Sanyo, just one bus stop away from the scene, were also involved in the crash. Tragically, the wife died on the spot, while the husband, who was seated in the front, survived with minor injuries.
The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has since evacuated the bodies of the deceased, while the injured have been taken to the hospital for treatment
