Please, share this story:
Jane Edidiong Ufot, the daughter of the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, has accused her father of having a hand in the death of his late wife, Patience Oluwakemi Umo Eno, who passed away in September 2024 following an undisclosed illness.
The allegation was disclosed in a video currently trending online.
In the viral video circulating widely on social media, Jane accused unnamed individuals of plotting to kill her and her child, claiming that the deaths of her mother and two brothers were not natural but orchestrated. With visible distress, she stated:
Jane’s late mother, Pastor Patience Eno, passed away in September 2024. Although her death was officially reported as being from natural causes, Jane’s recent comments have sparked renewed scrutiny and speculation.
During the video, Jane further declared:
“I’m not a sacrifice, the mummy was, but I’m not,” she said in the video.
The clip also captured a moment where she handed her phone to her young daughter, who appeared to be engaged in a video call with Governor Eno. The child, prompted by her mother, posed a question to the governor on the other end of the line.
“So, Grandpa, do you want them to kill us?” the child asked.
“Do you want them to die like my baby brother died?”
No audible response was heard from the governor during the exchange, and Mrs. Ufot did not clarify who she referred to as “them.”
The identity of the “baby brother” mentioned also remains unverified as of press time.
Mrs. Ufot, in the video, further claimed that her life and that of her daughter were in danger due to unspecified revelations that she suggested may soon come to light.
“If I die today or my daughter dies, I can live with that. But my blood will not go scot-free. Do you want them to die like my brother died?
Like my baby brother died? Ask him!”
The impassioned statements suggest long-standing tension within the family and hint at alleged cover-ups and hidden truths.
Jane claims her life has been endangered due to her decision to speak out, but she remains undeterred, adding that she has widely shared her evidence to prevent suppression of her claims:
“Don’t worry, I’ve posted this everywhere,” she assured.
Her bold accusations have triggered waves of reaction across political and social circles, with many calling for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths mentioned and her current safety.
One of the commentators said, “These things she said were very grave, among other things, she said her father is responsible for the death of her mother. Also, rumors are making the rounds that he has a second family in Akwa Ibom. This is a supposed pastor.
“For her to have said these things publicly, I want to believe this is deeper than we may think, and maybe she has some information that is not yet in the public domain. For me, I sympathize with the immediate family, and I hope whatever it is that is going on will receive the needed clarity, maybe away from the public or till justice and truth prevail.”
When FTN got in touch with the Commissioner for Information, Aniekan Umanah, he dismissed the video, stating that there was nothing wrong with the governor’s family.
He said all the family members attended a ceremony at the governor’s residence on Thursday.
“I can tell you unequivocally that there is nothing to it. Nothing is wrong with the family. When FTN played the video to the commissioner, he said, “I don’t want to bother about this, and I advise you to focus on governance and not this kind of thing.”
