The FCT Police Command has denied reports regarding the alleged kidnapping and murder of David Parradang, the former comptroller general of the National Immigration Service (NIS).
This clarification follows circulating claims that Parradang was abducted in the Area 1 area of Abuja on Tuesday morning. Reports suggested that he was followed by a bank after withdrawing money and subsequently killed for his cash.
However, SP Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the FCT Police, issued a statement on Tuesday evening, refuting the kidnapping and murder allegations surrounding Parradang’s death.
She explained that Parradang was found dead while seated in his hotel room at Joy House Hotel, located at the Area 3 Junction in Abuja.
“We wish to clarify the facts surrounding this incident to ensure that accurate information is disseminated to the public.
On March 3, 2025, at approximately noon, Mr. Parradang arrived at Joy House Hotel, driving a black Mercedes Benz. He checked into the hotel, paying twenty-two thousand naira (N22,000) for one night’s stay. Shortly after, he asked the hotel room attendant to escort a female guest to his room. This guest left the hotel premises around 4:00 PM the same day.
Mr. Parradang did not exit his room after the lady’s departure. Around 4:00 AM on March 4, 2025, a concerned friend, who is a military officer, traced him to the hotel. Upon arrival, the officer and the hotel receptionist proceeded to his room, where they found Mr. Parradang deceased, seated in a chair.
The Durumi Police Station was notified, and officers quickly arrived at the scene to secure the area, take photographs, and collect all relevant evidence to preserve the integrity of the crime scene.
The body has been transferred to the National Hospital for necessary procedures, and hotel staff are fully cooperating with police investigations. Efforts are underway to locate and arrest the female guest who visited him.
SP Adeh emphasized that an investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding Parradang’s death and urged the media to refrain from spreading misinformation. “We encourage the public and media outlets to avoid disseminating unverified information, including claims of kidnapping, that might incite fear or panic.
“The FCT Police Command is committed to conducting a thorough investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding Mr Parradang’s death. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we work to ensure justice is served. For any further inquiries, please contact the FCT Police Public Relations Office,” she said.
