Borno State has witnessed a dramatic turn in the fight against terrorism as the wife of a Boko Haram commander surrendered to troops of Operation Hadin Kai, bringing her two-year-old child along.

The 25-year-old woman, identified as Kaltum Dalha, gave herself up at the Forward Operating Base in Konduga at around 11:00 a.m. on February 26, 2026, shocking locals and security officials alike.

According to preliminary investigations, Kaltum’s husband, the commander of the notorious Mairam Buri enclave was neutralised by troops during a recent firefight.

His death reportedly compelled Kaltum to lay down arms and surrender.
She confirmed during interrogation that the group had effectively disintegrated following the loss of their leader.
