Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s efforts to rebuild the nation’s economy, emphasizing that “we all have work to do to join hands with the government to rebuild the economy.”

He acknowledged the global challenge of inflation, noting that Nigeria is not immune, but expressed optimism that the country can do better.

Speaking with reporters after a public lecture organized by the Treasure Newspaper, themed “Home Grown Economy as Road Map for Economic Sustainability: Examining the Prospects under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Administration,” Governor Aiyedatiwa praised the President’s commitment to economic recovery.

He highlighted Ondo State’s willingness to collaborate with the Media and concerned bodies to campaign against corruption.

However, Governor Aiyedatiwa disagreed with imposing death sentences as punishment for embezzling public funds, stressing that Nigeria is a civilized country governed by laws.

He believed that the existing laws were sufficient to address cases of mismanagement of public funds, making capital punishment unnecessary.

Earlier, the Governor represented by the Commissioner of Information, Mr Wale Akinlosotu, congratulated Treasure Newspaper for the initiative describing it as “beautiful and the first of its kind.”

He reiterated Ondo State’s media-friendly stance, expressing willingness to collaborate with Treasure Newspapers and other media outlets to promote public discourse.

The public lecture aimed to promote dialogue on economic sustainability and was attended by dignitaries, media professionals, and concerned citizens.
