The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said that Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, is not his friend, noting that he is just his political associate.
Speaking as a guest in an interview on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television on Monday, Wike said he is free to fall out with a political associate.
Makinde was among the G5 governors led by Wike who worked against Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections.
Asked to comment on allegations that he was working against the governor to scuttle his political ambition of being the PDP presidential candidate, Wike said that was not true. “We are talking of fish, you are talking of crab,” he told his interviewer.
“It’s not about being a PhD holder. It’s not about being an engineer or being a lawyer. That’s not it. If you want to be a presidential candidate of your party, would you allow the party to be in crisis?
“Seyi Makinde is not my friend; we are political associates, and there is no law that says political associates must remain together,” he said.
