The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended four of its top national officers — including the National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and the National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN) — for alleged misconduct following a court order halting the party’s national convention.

The decision was announced after an emergency meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) held on Saturday at the party’s secretariat, Legacy House, Maitama, Abuja.

Addressing journalists after the meeting, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, said the suspension would last for one month pending investigation.

> “The NWC, in line with the party’s constitution, came to the following conclusion: the National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN); Deputy Legal Adviser, Okechukwu Osuoha; National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu; and National Organising Secretary, Umaru Bature, have been suspended for one month and referred to the PDP Disciplinary Committee,” Ologunagba stated.

In a statement signed by Debo Ologunagba, National Publicity Secretary, the NWC explained that the move was necessary to uphold party discipline and internal order following recent legal and political developments.

The suspensions come just 48 hours after a Federal High Court stopped the PDP from holding its convention, citing unresolved leadership disputes within the party.

Party sources hinted that the affected officers are accused of taking positions perceived to contradict collective NWC decisions, though the party has not released further details.
